We're Under a Month Away Until the Completion of the Grendon Almshouses!

In a couple of weeks, we will have completed the Grendon Road Almshouses in Exeter. We've loved working on this one with Kendall Kingscott and Exeter Homes Trust over the last two years. 

Fifields Construction Exeter was appointed to carry out the refurbishment and alteration work throughout the building. 

The project involved upgrading and restoring the 24-grade ll listed 19th-century Almshouse flats, with new two-storey extensions added to the rear of the building.

The rear extensions are comprised of steel beams fixed to external blockwork, with double-pitched roofs and mono-pitched roofs to the ground floor extension. 

For the internal works, we carried out new rendering to the extension with glazing, floor finishes, and decorations. New mechanical and electrical services, underfloor heating, modern shower rooms, ensuite toilets, and kitchens were provided.

The final result will hopefully leave the residents with modern, energy-efficient housing and upgraded apartments while retaining the historic character and importance.
