Contractors accredited with FIRAS assure end users and regulators that the work carried out is done so correctly and in accordance with industry standards.
-
They are required to undergo a 3 stage assessment process to assess office management systems. workmanship and the competence of supervisory and installation employees.
-
Fifields specialise in installation, maintenance, inspection, and replacement of fire doors for residential, commercial, industrial and public sector building.
The FIRAS Maintenance Suite (FIRAS Register/Database) contains the details of companies who are certified installers of fire protection in accordance with the requirements of the FIRAS Schemes. Q.E. School, Crediton - Fire Door Upgrades
Whilst always remaining a priority within a building’s integrity, fire precaution and fire safety are more important now than ever before.
Fifields Construction are proud to be a Firas accredited contractor, which enables us to carry out high quality, certifiable fire stopping works. This provides the client with the assurance that the works carried out have been done so to the correct standard and quality that is required by
building regulations.
In 2018, Fifields Construction carried out a two phase contract comprising the upgrade of emergency lighting, fire doors, fire alarm systems and fire stopping materials across the various campuses of the Queen Elizabeth School, Crediton.
The works were carried out in two phases over two summer terms to avoid the disruptive impact that could be potentially created.
In total 132 new fire doors were installed throughout the campus across the two phases, which were then inspected for sign-off and certified through Firas. At the project handover, the client was issued a Firas certificate and report detailing the particulars of the install and that the required
installation standards have been met throughout the contract phase.
Dorset Police Fire Doors
In 2022 and 2023, Fifields were awarded a project undertaking the supply and installation of 9no fire rated door sets in 2022 and 42no fire rated door sets in 2023.
The works were completed by our direct Firas accredited carpenters, whilst the Station remained open and in full operation. This required care and consideration from our site team, who were fully
accommodating of the activity of the staff and occupants, requiring Fifields to remain fluid in their programme whilst still remaining on target for the project deadline.
The fire rated doorsets were installed to a high quality, complying with current British Standards and Firas regulations. Fire doors must be installed in the exact same method as they were tested
under, requiring accurate workmanship to be within the set tolerances for the fire doors.
This ensures that they will effectively work in the circumstances of a fire, providing additional safety for the building users when evacuating.
The doors have been installed, inspected and certified through our Firas accredited membership, providing the end users with a clear audit trail and the assurance that their products have been
installed correctly and to the highest possible standard.
